Get other websites to vouch for your cleaning company.

Google counts links as votes. AI counts mentions. Here's where cleaning companies earn both, in order, and the free skill that finds yours. Facts checked October 2026.

Part 1 of 6

Why links and mentions matter

A link is another website pointing to yours. A mention is another website naming your company, with or without a link. Both tell Google and AI that real people in your area know you.

  • Google counts links as votes. Local search experts rate links at about a quarter of what decides the regular, non-map local results.
  • AI counts mentions. In an Ahrefs study of 75,000 brands, being mentioned around the web lined up with showing up in Google's AI Overviews much more closely than links did.
  • The same experts rank mentions on local “best of” lists as the top factor for showing up in AI answers.
  • In Samuel's own tests (AI answers for commercial cleaning in Miami, October 2026), the sources AI quoted were “best of” lists, the BBB and the companies' own websites. Never Yelp.
